How it started
“Events generate a huge carbon footprint in such a short period of time. We have to do our part to change this as fast as possible.”
Circle founder Jess Sousa has worked in the events industry for nearly two decades. She was the Director of Events at the MIT Media Lab where she designed a new set of principles around sustainable and inclusive events.
In 2020, Jess began focusing on sustainability research and behavior change in order to change the narrative around sustainability and events. Thanks to some really smart colleagues, Circle was created and since then, the team has been experimenting with ways to reduce the environmental impact of events, regardless of the size or format of the event. Jess works with a diverse team of climate data experts, event planners, designers, and vendors to provide advice and consulting that is customized to the needs of your organization.
